About me
I was born and grew up in Canton Ticino, Switzerland, to a mother from Ticino and a father from Bern. At home we used to speak both Italian and Swiss German. This allowed me to develop a strong passion for languages as a child.
Education
I obtained a BA in Applied Languages (specialisation in Multimodal Communication) from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in 2017 and an MA in Applied Linguistics (specialisation in Professional Translation) in 2019. During and after my studies, I completed internships at the State Chancellery of the Canton of Grisons (Standeskanzlei Graubünden) and at the Federal Department of Finance (FDF).
2021 I decided to learn more about machine translation and artificial intelligence, so I have enrolled in the CAS in Translation Tecnology & AI organised by the ZHAW and the University of Zürich.
Professional activity
Since January 2020, I have been working part-time as a translator at the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER). At the same time, I am also working as a freelance translator. My working languages are Italian (as target language) and German, French and English (as source languages).

Focus on machine translation
I am very interested in technological developments in translation. That’s why both my Master’s thesis and my CAS report, which you can find here, deal with machine translation.
