I was born and grew up in Canton Ticino, Switzerland, to a mother from Ticino and a father from Bern. At home we used to speak both Italian and Swiss German. This allowed me to develop a strong passion for languages as a child.
I am highly interested in technology in general, and artificial intelligence in particular. I therefore keep up with the developments of these technology and try to help others in the translation industry navigate this new world and demonstrate our profession’s unique value.
Education
I obtained a BA in Applied Languages (specialisation in Multimodal Communication) from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in 2017 and an MA in Applied Linguistics (specialisation in Professional Translation) in 2019. During and after my studies, I completed internships at the State Chancellery of the Canton of Grisons (Standeskanzlei Graubünden) and at the Federal Department of Finance (FDF).
I decided to learn more about machine translation and artificial intelligence. So, in 2021, I enrolled in the CAS in Translation Technology & AI (ZHAW/University of Zurich), and, in 2025, in the CAS in Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Digital Transformation Process (Intelligenza artificiale applicata al processo di trasformazione digitale, SUPSI).
Professional activity
Since January 2020, I have been working part-time as a translator at the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) and founded my own company. Since 2023, I have also been teaching translation at ZHAW.
